Venue: MaxBashing Track
Meeting: MaxBashing Round 5

Round 5 of the MaxBashing club championship took place on the 5th August 2007 at the MaxBashing track near Guildford.  With an outbreak of foot and mouth in the local area the place was besieged by news helicopters and road closures but everyone got to the track without any problems and with a baking hot sun shining down on us, a full days racing went ahead as planned.

Truggy TQ was taken by Matt Ross and his Losi 8ight-TWith around 80 race entries in three classes the truggies once again proved to be the dominant class.  After qualifying Matt Ross took TQ with his Losi 8ight-T.  In the A final though he didn’t fare so well after his truck stalled on the line and he had to start the race from the pits.

The Truggy A final was won by Richard Ford and his Hong Nor X1 CRT

In was a messy fight to find the winner with the top spot changing hands six times in the first seven laps.  Richard Ford came out on top of this battle though on lap seven and opened up an impressive lead which he held onto on till the end with his Hong Nor CRT.  Oli O’Connor picked up second place with his Xray XT8 and Roy Giles claimed third with his Mugen MBX5T.

In the Monster Truck class Ben Champion took TQ with his Revo 3.3 but in the final it was Lionel Croucher who took the win with his Losi LST.  Ben claimed second and Bill Gwinett took third with his Revo 3.3

In the Rallycross buggy class current championship and TJD Models team driver Matt Reuben took TQ with his Kyosho MP777 SP2 but when he struggled to get the buggy started for the final it allowed Alex Gillbanks, Ricky Burnett  and Barry Plank to battle it out for the lead.  Barry unfortunately retired on lap ten with his Losi 8ight and Alex had taken a secure position in the lead with his Xray XB8.  He held on to this to take the win with Ricky picking up second place driving another XB8.  Scott Champion came through to pick up third place with his Hot Bodied Lightning2 Pro.

The next race at the MaxBashing track is due to take place on the 5th September 2007
