    Default Rd2 K.O.R.T

The second round of our series was held in the depths of Cornwall at Kernow Off Road Tracks very fast and open venue. We we’re once again treated to a sunny welcome and the track looked in good shape as usual. This all astro turf venue with its immensely long straights and wide flowing corners calls for a very quick buggy which carries good corner speed to put together a quick lap. There is a sort of table top jump in the middle of the lap which accounts for the technical section of a lap. So it all sounds very easy, BUT as I said this is a very fast track and one mistake can be very costly.

From the off the usual suspects were fast, but it should be mentioned that Matthew Varah was never troubled for the top spot claiming TQ throughout the day with his Losi 2 eu. Mark Parnell kept him in check though in 2nd.Ben Jordan was unfortunately taken ill through the day having to retired and head home before the finals, this was a big disappointment after qualifying in 3rd place overall. But these guys locked out the top three throughout qualifying.

In the B final Lee Bennetts once again took a dominant win, this time his Mugen being powered by an Alpha motor. He really never looked troubled and went to on win by a good margin, I’m being to think he’s simply looking for extra track time. Ashley Parkin took 2nd and the other bump up spot after another good drive finishing comfortably ahead of 3rd placed Dave McCarthy.

The A final was lead away by Matthew Varah who simply drove away from the rest of the field and went on to take a rather easy win. The battle for 2nd and 3rd was titanic though. Mark Parnell and James Varah were all but on top of each other for the entire 20 minutes, eventually Mark would get the upper hand though coming in to take a well deserved 2nd. Rod Mingo recovered to 4th with his Go powered Mugen after a some what disappointing qualifying, followed closely by team mate Lee Bennetts. Paul Rose managed 6th ahead of Dave Stanley who after such a promising qualifying was unlucky to run into troubles in the final. The final was rounded out with Jason Dockree in 8th from Ashley Parkin in 9th, ill Ben Jordan did not make the start.

Round 3 is at Torbay on June 27th , they will also be holding a trophy meeting on Saturday 26th ahead of their S.W.O.R.D.S round.

A word of thanks to the series sponsors Optifuel , AnswerRc , AMC and Schumacher Racing who all help to make our series happen.

Turns out it was my appendix and i have a 2 inch cut across my stomach now.
Despite that, it was a good and close day.
