    Default alpha F850

    hi guys.

i am trying to tune my new motor. and was wondering why i am struggling so much to get it tuned right.

i am running a Jp1 pipe and header.

i know you guys say i need to run a j4 or equivelent but i have my reasons why i am running a jp1 probably go to a jp3 but will have to see.

    anyway.

how may min are you guys getting?
why is it so hard to tune a motor that has 5 ports or more??

i have no problem tuning my 3 port motors at all.

all help and advice is welcome.

    cheers
    levon

The engine could have an air leak, making it difficult to tune. I had an air leak with a GO 21 GX5R 5 Port once and trying to tune it was very frustrating, so I sealed it then I never had another problem. Tuning became very easy, tune to the day's weather conditions then it held that tune all day. So my advice is to check for air leaks, or just seal it anyway.

Where was your air leak ?? I'm running the r2100 .21 go engine and after about 3-4 mins of running she bogs down a hell of alot until it hits mid range then she is off again !!!!!

    I don't know lol, I just sealed the whole engine; around the backplate, around the carb neck, in and around the pinch bolts and around the high speed jet where it bolts to the carb body, including the washers and fuel inlet nipple. I used permatex ultra copper sealant, but halfords sell the same stuff now under the Loctite brand name;

Get rid of the carb they are poo, mine was impossible to tune so i put an old OS speed carb on mine and the engine was immediately transformed. It screams like a raped ape and i can just squeeze 10 min out of it.

well to answer your question on that m8.

i have the go .25 and the rubber boot that is over the carb is 5h1t.

i am looking around for a new boot that will work and replace the one that is on.

now as in the alpha 850 i have a JP1 on it currently and i think i have the tune right. it is not getyting to hot and it screams like hell. i have also ordered or bought a 2081 pipe for the motor of the sale section and waiting for it to come. this is the pipe that comes with the motor in the combo packages.

i think it will be in the post tomorrow.

as in carb... i think it is not a bad carb TBH.... plastic so there is less heat in the fuel on hot days and even in a normal day as plastic does nto get as hot as the ali ones.

the motor is still pretty new. almost 11 tanks through it. and it tight as hell still.

the alphas's carb is actualy almost identical to the one i have on my RB motor.

i will keep you guys posted on what is happening in the world of levons motor.

    LOL

also i worked it out with the help of answer-rc i was running way to rich.

    cheers

    update:

i went from the JP1 to the alpha 2081 and had to do a bit of tweaking. it was a little on the rich side so i leaned it out.

i can let it stand and tick over the entire tank. even after 3 min of tick over i can open full throttle and it just shoots away and does not cut out at all.

i ahve not tested it out yet on how much run tme i get on a full tank but i recon it will be close to the 10 min maybe even over the 10 min mark.

as soon as i have done my first race with this setup i will let you guys know what times i am getting.
