MP9 is a good car and is becoming more and more popular all the time. The initial purchase price is all that puts a lot of people off...although, you don't really need to buy and upgrades.

For the price....it initially seems a very good deal. However, the new TKI3 is due v.soon so you may want to compare the differences in the kit, work out which of the TKI3 goodies you want and work out what you'll save over simply buying the TKI3 and decide if it is worth it. I think the new front tower is around £55, radio tray works out at nearly £50 and then there are the new Heavy Duty driveshafts (no idea what these are likely to cost).

If you just add on around £100 for the tower and radio tray, your looking at £560 (so around a £70 saving...(based on the assumption the TKI3 will be available for the same sort of money the TKI2 is)....personally, I'd probably go for the TKI3 as you'd get the heavy duty shafts too (as some TKI2s had a dodgy set of shafts) and any other small rolling changes they've made but not really publicised... If the new car is more expensive than the current car (or you don't want all the TKI3 bits), then maybe going the upgraded TKI2 route would be cheaper...

    Alternatively.....get an XB9!

I would wait until the 3 is released. For a start the 2 does not come with the forward battery mount, and thats £30 on its own.

I worked out it will cost approx £170 to upgrade from a 2 to a 3.

    Hi there

For £460 that is a really good price, the new kit is going to cost over £600 in the uk having used the MP9 since 2008 there has not been much changes. It is a great car and can be run stock out of the box.

The last batch of TKI2 have no Driveshaft / Cup issues and has the new Rear tower 10 hole camber link. Drive cup issues was on there first run of TKI2 and this has now been addressed for a good 12 months now.

If it was me i would upgrade to the TKI3 Battery box, maybe would consider the HD Drive Shafts and thats it. Because the TKI3 will be heavier than the TKI2. From the front shock tower and the Driveshafts.

I have never ever had Driveshaft issues since the kit was released in the 2008.

So for £460 plus £50 for TKI3 Battery conversion equals £510 great price for a great car that can be run stock from there just general spares required.

From what I have read, the new shock tower has less milling like the WC tower so is stronger....and apparently the shock positions have been changed slightly...so is worth considering.

Depending on how old the new one in the box is....it may or maynot have the shaft/cup issue and may or may not have some of the WC bits that have made it into the TKI2 recently (like the reinforced arms, front arm holder etc).

The price does seem good....but as said before....it does depend on what spec he wants the car to be, what exactly is in the box and from there, will depend on weighing up the cost of the new kit versus upgrading this one he's been offered...

    Default tki3

    Hi
I am toying with buying the new kyosho but also the rc8.2 as there are similarities,
I've not driven either model but have seen them run(older kyosho) and both look really good I just can't decide!

Did the original TKI suffer from this problem too??
