Thanks for the kind words. The blog for the next round should be interesting as its our own round, with plenty of work to be undertaken still

Just trying to sort a little fabercation out at the moment, to move the camera further away from the body

Lovin the write ups, the build up to the weekends racing is nice to read.

The videos are good as well, the only thing I'd suggest is running the videos at normal speed or maybe even slow them down a little. Only because its so bumpy anyway I think you might get more clarity if they were normal or slow speed.

Keep up the blog, more pics as well btw

That was normal speed, if i slow it down the size of the file becomes bigger, i am going to try a couple of things before the next round to see if i can stabilise it, i.e. pull the camera further away from the car with some foam.

Please dont forget the camera i use is a simple £50 chilli techonology 720p one, i cant afford the reply xd cam (£200+) but if someone wants to supply me with one for the tmsc i would be more than happy to use it. (nudge nudge wink wink CML) lol

I wasn't sure if you'd sped it up for time/file reasons.

I've seen some really nice videos from a rear facing camera view. It's just finding a mounting place otherwise you'd just get a load of rear wing.

    Default TMSC - Round 3 - Frankley

Welcome back everyone for the next instalment of my racing blog for the TMSC, hope everyone has enjoyed it so far, it's certainly nice to see the comments and the amount of views it has had so far.

This next blog should have covered the events at our own track DRCORC, but due to events surrounding the motocross track next to ours, we had to swap with the good chaps at Frankley. Thank you Frankley and the TMSC committee.

    Anyway onto the interesting stuff....

The last time I visited Frankley was last years 8/11 Race Central Series to which we had a cracking time, so I decided to head down there after the wash out of the Dirt Masters at Coventry this past Sunday. On first inspection of the track, I was highly impressed with the new layout, especially the conversion of the table top into a big American style jump, this jump is certainly going to get a few people scratching there heads if there not careful. The next thing that impressed me was the lack of standing water on the track from all the rain it seen, if it does rain up to and during the TMSC round the track will by the look of things hold up very well to 100 cars zipping around it.

    TRACK PHOTOS

My aspirations for this weekend are to improve on my excellent showing at Ledbury, round 2, and not to have any crashes causing damage to my car on the practice day before the main event. Who knows what's going to happen.... Let the games begin.

Saturday 9th June - practice day......

PHOTO OF SOME OF OUR LITTLE TEAM CARS

Saturday practice was certainly better than Ledbury, due to the fact that I didn't break my car meaning I didn't have to go begging in the pits for spare parts. On the set up front it has been an intriguing day, at the start of the day we were expecting rain for race day so decided to stay on wet setup in the dry, but within an hour the weather report had changed to a dry race day, so all the X-ray drivers set about adjusting there cars to suit the conditions. I tried adjusting the positioning of the shocks both front and back, different roll bars, different springs and finally different tyres. In the end I got to a point which are was fairly happy with, leaving the rest down to driving better.

The evenings antics were pretty subdued compared to Ledbury, we all had a few to drinks around Mallets electric fire, when we could actually get some of the heat, Girls. On this occasion i kept off the vodka, which was to be a waist decision, maybe at Nene the vodka will have to come out again to play.

    Sunday 10th June 2012

Weather outlook for the day is very good, dry and sunny, meaning all of yesterday's testing didn't go to complete waste like it normally does. 83 drivers booked in, a little down on the previous round, probably down to 2 reasons truggy nationals and the indecisive weather over the past couple of weeks.

Round 1 - this being the first time we could use the full track after yesterday. The round went pretty well using the onboard camera in the warm up, I kept it fairly clean through out, a couple of bobbles kept me away from the 9 lapper which is what I was aiming for but in the end I finished 19th overall.

    ONBOARD VIDEO

I'm not to happy with the outcome this time, I'm trying to mount the camera further out on the body so that i can show a better view. The photo below shows my mounting solution, if anyone can come up with a better idea or make a solution i would welcome your suggestions, Thank you.

Top 3 cars, 1st Milan Drogojlovic (X-Ray), 2nd Colin Jackson, 3rd Mitchell Booth

Round 2 - I decided to keep the car the same, but my driving skills left a bit to be desired in this round, although somehow i managed to beat my first round result by some 3 seconds. The major difference in this round was everyone seemed to be faster keeping it cleaner than I could. The final round needed to be better. I finished 25th overall this time round

    Top 3 cars, 1st Milan Drogojlovic (X-ray), 2nd Lee Bunker (X-Ray), 3rd Colin Jackson,

Round 3 - I decided to completely change the shocks on my car to something a little harder, which on first thought would benefit me on the fast sweeping corner. But in hindsight was not a wise choice for me. Every time I tried to push to the same level as the first and second rounds the car seemed to flip out of control on the high speed corners. I ended up coming 37th overall in this round.

Top 3 cars of this round were 1st Milan Drogojlovic (X-Ray), 2nd Craig Drescher, 3rd Greg Hill (X-Ray)

Overall results from all races seemed a bit strange especially lower down the qualifying list, some noticeable names suffered from a lot of problems, Leigh Richardson (82nd), Mark Kay (81st) Craig Drescher (41st) to name some of the top drivers. I ended up qualifying 25th overall, which would end up surrounding my self which some very good drivers in the C final. I suppose on the face of it I should be happy with this outcome, but I just felt I had more to offer. Let's hope the final will bring something a little better.

Top 3 overall were 1st Milan Drogojlovic (X-Ray), 2nd Colin Jackson, 3rd Lee Bunker (X-Ray).

C final - I have changed my car back to my original settings with my shocks, and have also changed the position of my rear outer camber link. Final now over, car was a lot better, but still didn't feel Like I performed to my best, making silly mistakes and getting tangled with the race leader (apologies Craig for that). For a lot of the race I was towards the rear of the pack, it wasn't until I calmed down did I start to drive like I know I can. In the end I finished 7th, on the same lap as the second position driver.

Update on the top drivers who had a mare of a day, Mark Kay bumped all the way till the d final until he just came up short of bumping to the C final. Leigh Richardson bumped all the way to the c final where he finished with battery problems, and Craig Drescher ended up giving a master class to everyone on the track eventually winning the main A final lapping everyone up to 3 rd position and finishing 25 seconds ahead of 2nd after spending 1hour 45 minutes of constant driving on the track, well done.

Final results 1st Craig Drescher, 2nd Milan Drogojlovic (X-Ray) 3rd Lee Bunker (X-Ray)

Well done team X-ray, RC Disco - 4 cars in the final

Final thoughts, I seem to be getting to grips with the X-ray and setting it up, I just need to settle down into a race rhythm a lot quicker than I am currently doing and at that stage I may be able to race at the top end of the grid. In the end I suppose I'm not doing to bad in my 2nd full year of racing.

Roll on Nene Valley at the end of the month with a new track and a disco tent.

Good read as usual mark thankyou. I think that's how maifield had his mounted but it almost looks like the buggy has no damping with how bumpy the video is. Maybe it needs to be held solid to the centre diff or radio tray so the soft body and sponge doesn't jerk the camera around so much.

I like ur thinking there, might have to come up with a holders that screws into radio trays battery cover or do away with the sponge althought and use some bluetac to level it up instead of sponge
