They are very popular with Tamiya collectors and are considered the Holy Grail, especially if they are original. The SS is a brilliant car with a charm all of it's own and Tamiya recently re-released it for it's 30th anniversary.

I had an original Tamiya Porsche 959 which had a few bits missing and sold it on eBay a few years ago to pay off some credit card debt and couldn't believe the amount of interest I had... I found out afterwards that the original Tamiya kits are like gold dust especially if they still have the original Rothmans stickers and was kicking myself for ages for selling it! So keep hold of it if you can!!!

Actually turns out I have the wrong body for it or wrong tyre setup, depending on how you look at it, the chassis setup is for the sand scorcher buggy but the body is that of the FORD would you recommend getting new body or change the tyre's?

Keep the ford body, they are worth a mint on their own. You should be able to find wheels and tires for the Ford on ebay. I found a set for mine a couple of years ago, they may a bit pricey though. If you want to have it as the SS then the body is easy to come buy due to the re-release. Most model shops should be able to get it for you.

    Default Sand Viper

Sorry to muscle in, but we have unearthed a Tamyia Sand Viper. I'm letting my nephew bash it about :0. Should I be wrapping it in cotton wool??!

    Default Tamiya Collectables ...

Its the First 100 tamiya models that are the more valuable ... some of the earlier ones have been known to sell for more than $3000 in mint or NIB (New In Box) condition.
If you want to get some idea as to how much your model is worth check out ...

    www.rcscrapyard.net/tamiya.htm

They have all the kits listed.

The sand scorcher is in mostly working condition, the battery connector is clogged with battery acid and the circuit breaker needs replacing. the body is missing a few parts and i'm going to paint it like in the manual that came with it ( the blue and white).
The brat is filthy and a servo has been damaged. it needs a new motor and body and bumper but i've got the rest of it.
