Hi there,
well last weekend KORT held its Two day race meet, with lots of new features on the track
and a new style of fun, in the form of a drag strip.
The Saturday consisted of open practice, 6 rounds of qualifying and another round of open practice.
The Sunday saw morning practice, the finals, which was some of the best racing I've ever seen, with
a 20 min buggy B final and two 30 min A finals for the rallycross and large scale.
Then onto the drag strip and (for) anyone wishing to see a nitro motor scream, then this was the place.
and the 1/5 boys run out radio range
but only to be outdone by our two
brushless 808s they are mental
the two day started in its usual fashion, with some of its hard core members turning up for the friday night and visiting the halfway house for 'tea'.
I had a good day on the Saturday, winning 4 out of 6 qualifying heats and was having a good fight in each with Dave Stanley.
Now Barry (mooky), decided to hide the qualifying results for the night in his back pocket,
and announced the positions on the Sunday morning.
I was surprised to find myself in the longest race I'd ever been in. My first ever A final, with a lot of drivers I normally marshal and in 5th spot, pretty much in the middle.
The B final honors went to KORT's very own Ozz, who has only recently joined the club, well done mate.
The A final lined up, and 10 buggys shot of the line, and into the 30 min final. Now before the race, I was pretty nervous, and negatively thinking that I was going to be totally outclassed, and come last.
Then to watch as I was clipped and knocked right to the back during the first couple of corners, seemed to confirm this, but 30min is a long time as I found out, so I just started to plod around and gradually heard my transponder number going up the line, aided by peoples breakages fuel strategies and crashing out.
By 25 min I was in 4th and was no way going to catch the leaders, I settled down as I had worn my receiver battery and had virtually no steering.
But it kept going, and as a final act of deifying dropping out as I came up the pit lane after the race, the right rear hingpin which i knew was bent fell out and caused the rear end to collapse
but it finished and finished well so all smiles.
I hope those who went, also enjoyed it as much as it did.
Jordan.
