Lightbulb How to look after your engine on a hot day

After this weekend and trying to look after a few engines that I was hearing from off of the rostrum, I thought I'd better give you all some advise on engine health.

We all know this little helpful chart I had sorted out so you could do all your little fine tuning.

Nitro content:-........30-40 you richen it, 10-30 lean it.

Glow plug temp:-........Cold you richen it, Hot lean it.

To Richen your needle settings you turn anti clockwise.

Well there is one thing that is missing. On a very hot day and high track temperatures you need to cool your engine down.

The thing that I see is people getting a hold of their screw drivers and richen the top needle. Ok it will throw a load more nitro into the engine and cool it down a bit, but you have lost your top end and your engine is still hot and you are holding on throttle more and breaking later and missing the apex. Resulting in frustration and or a broken car

Your engines will only cool down off of throttle, as there is fuel that is running through it unburnt. If you richen your bottom end, you will cool your engine off and bring your temps back down to where they should be for a proper tune, but don't forget to turn your tick over up, as the engine will be loading at the bottom end of the crank with fuel and that will stall an engine so turn your tick overs up.
